Riece Joynes: Paedophile Told Schoolgirl He'd Train To Be Teacher To Sexually Abuse Her

A Nottingham paedophile has been jailed for two-and-a-half years after he told an undercover police officer posing as a 13-year-old girl that he would train to be a science teacher so they could have sex at school.

Riece Joynes, 23, of Montague Street, Bulwell, also sent the teen explicit videos of himself. He was arrested in December 2023 and officers seized his mobile phone where they discovered hundreds of indecent images of children, including some showing rape.

Despite being bailed for these offences, Joynes was caught again months later by a second undercover officer posing as a 14-year-old girl. Discussions with this officer included sex positions and Joynes expressed attraction to girls of that age.

Jailing Joynes, Recorder Simon King said: "It is clear to me that only an immediate custodial sentence can be justified. I seems to me that there is a real risk if you don't sit up and pay real attention to how society views what you do with your time you will be considered as someone who poses a danger to children.”

Joynes pleaded guilty to charges of possession of indecent images of children, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and attempting to cause a child to watch a sexual act. He has no previous convictions.

In mitigation, Steven Gosnell said his client is autistic, suffers low self-esteem and was bullied at school. He added: β€œHe is desperate to rehabilitate himself and desperate for help.”

As well as the jail term, Joynes was handed an indefinite sexual harm prevention order and placed on the sex offender register for life.
