Kids entertainer 'Bobby Bubbles' sexually abused child.
Children's entertainer "Bobby Bubbles" sentenced to 14 years for child sex abuse.
Robert Jamieson, 49, known as "Bobby Bubbles," has been convicted of ten historic child sex offenses and sentenced to 14 years in prison. The professional clown, popular at children's parties across Hull and East Yorkshire, was labeled "dangerous" by a judge after a trial at Sheffield Crown Court.
Jamieson, of Beech Grove, west Hull, denied any wrongdoing but was found guilty by a jury of abusing his victim, who was under 13 at the time of the offenses. The victim initially refused to cooperate with police but later came forward after becoming a mother herself, fearing the abuse would be repeated with her own child.
The court heard that despite her young age, the victim "thought she was in love" with Jamieson. Prosecutor Gurdial Singh stated that the victim's experience as a mother helped her recognize the abuse and seek justice. Jamieson had befriended and groomed the girl before sexually assaulting her.
Jamieson, who had daily contact with children through his performances, previously spoke out against the "killer clown" craze in 2016, claiming "true clowns don't wear masks." He described his acts as "gentle, jolly and physical comedy." Despite his public persona, Jamieson was convicted of four counts of indecency with a child and two of sexual intercourse with a girl under 13.
The judge sentenced Jamieson under the dangerous offender provisions, imposing a 14-year custodial term and an extended license period of one year. This sentence reflects the severity of the offenses and the potential danger Jamieson poses to children.
