Kendal Man Pleads Guilty to Child Pornography Charges
A 24-year-old man from Kendal, Robert James Lewthwaite, is scheduled to be sentenced next month after pleading guilty to multiple charges of making indecent images of children.
Lewthwaite appeared at Carlisle Crown Court on [Date] where he admitted to three counts of making indecent photographs of children between July 2017 and May 2018. The charges encompassed a total of 841 images, categorized as follows:
- Category A (most serious): 66 images
- Category B: 146 images
- Category C: 639 images
Lewthwaite also admitted to taking an indecent category A photograph of a child, depicting a sexual act, on July 5, 2017.
David Traynor, Lewthwaite's defense attorney, requested a pre-sentence report, citing his client's lack of prior convictions. Judge Peter Davies granted the request and released Lewthwaite on bail.
Lewthwaite is scheduled to return to Carlisle Crown Court in early February for sentencing before Judge James Adkin. Judge Davies emphasized that bail does not guarantee a lenient sentence, stating, "Just because I am bailing you it doesn't mean the sort of sentence you will get - that's up to James Adkin."
