Staffordshire Child Sex Offender Sentenced to 24 Years
Robert Mold, 63, of Bridgtown, Cannock, has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for multiple child sex offenses.
Mold was arrested in July 2020 after survivors bravely came forward to report the abuse, which occurred between 2016 and 2017.
Following the survivors' disclosures, Staffordshire Police conducted a thorough investigation, gathering evidence and bringing Mold to justice. Despite initially denying the accusations, he was charged and subsequently pleaded guilty to two counts of rape of a child, two counts of sexual activity with a child, and six counts of sexual assault of a child.
On February 26, Mold was sentenced at a court hearing. He was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Detective Sergeant Sophie Boden, from the Child Protection and Exploitation Team, commented: "I would like to acknowledge the immense courage and bravery displayed by the survivors throughout this investigation. Mold is a truly dangerous individual who has inflicted an immeasurable amount of anguish on his victims."
"Officers and staff from our Child Protection and Exploitation Team (CPET) have worked tirelessly to secure this conviction, support the victims, and put a dangerous sex offender behind bars for a very long time. This case demonstrates that we will relentlessly pursue sex offenders, bring them to justice, and seek the toughest possible punishments," she added.
The police encourage any survivors of rape and sexual assault to come forward, regardless of when the offences occurred. "You will be listened to," stated Boden.
