Leeds paedophile jailed for telling '12-year-old boy' he was 'sexy' and arranging to meet him at hotel

Pervert Jailed for Grooming 'James' - Decoy Account

Robert Taylor, 36, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison after being caught attempting to meet a 12-year-old boy named 'James' for sexual purposes. The 'boy' was actually a decoy account set up by West Yorkshire Police.

Taylor initiated contact with the account in June 2022, engaging in sexually explicit conversations and sending explicit photos. He arranged to meet 'James' at Batley Railway Station and check into a hotel with the intention of committing serious sexual offenses.

Upon his arrival at the station on June 30th, Taylor was arrested. He admitted to his actions and expressed remorse, claiming he was "horny." Police subsequently seized his computer and hard drives, discovering thousands of child abuse images and videos, including 990 Category A – the most serious – as well as extreme pornographic images involving bestiality.

Taylor pleaded guilty to arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence, attempting to meet a child under 16, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, possessing indecent images of children, possessing prohibited images of children, and possessing extreme pornographic images.

During sentencing, Judge Rodney Jameson KC acknowledged the absence of a real victim but highlighted the "significant degree of planning" and "grooming behavior" exhibited by Taylor.

In mitigation, a medical report by Dr Harry Wood attributed Taylor's actions to lifelong psychological difficulties stemming from his mother's illness during his birth, leading to social isolation. Dr Wood also suggested that Taylor may have Asperger's Syndrome.

In addition to his prison sentence, Taylor was issued a 10-year sexual harm prevention order.
