Child rapist kept photos of himself abusing boy in 'keep safe vault'.

Child Rapist Sentenced to 11.5 Years

Robert Trigg, of Fairclough Crescent, Haydock, was sentenced to 11 and a half years in prison with an extended license of 12 months for the rape and sexual abuse of a young boy.

Liverpool Crown Court heard that Trigg had taken sick photographs of himself abusing the boy, who was aged between three and five at the time of the offenses.

The court was told that Trigg had accessed child pornography images online and had stored the images of his abuse in a secure vault on his phone.

Police discovered 36 images in the most serious category of abuse, 38 in the next category, and 137 in the least serious category, all depicting the same young boy.

Trigg pleaded guilty to oral rape of the child, two offenses of causing or inciting him to engage in sexual activity, and three offenses of taking indecent photographs of the boy.

Judge Denis Watson, QC described Trigg's behavior as "grotesque and serious offending," and said that he would sentence him on the basis the victim had been aged five and that the offenses all took place on the same day.

Judge Watson also said that Trigg had kept the images so he could access them whenever he wished.

The judge ordered Trigg to sign on the Sex Offenders Register for life and imposed a Sexual Harm Prevention Order to last indefinitely.

Paul Becker, defending, said that Trigg was an intelligent man with 13 GCSEs and had worked in various roles, including the hotel industry.

Mr. Becker added: "Sadly his life has been blighted by alcohol. He has been involved in working for the charity, the HoneyRose Foundation in St Helens. He accepts full responsibility for these terrible offenses and is thoroughly ashamed of himself."
