String of sex crimes involving four girls.

Rolf Harris, a beloved entertainer known for his family-friendly image, has been sentenced to five years and nine months in prison for a string of sex crimes against four girls.

The 84-year-old was found guilty of 12 indecent assaults, dating back to between 1968 and 1986, and was described by the judge as a "prolific paedophile" who had shown no remorse for his actions.

The victims, who were aged between seven and nineteen at the time of the assaults, included a young girl who was groped when she asked for Harris' autograph, and two teenagers who were targeted by the performer.

The most serious charges involved the abuse of his daughter's then-best friend, who was groomed by Harris from the age of 13. Prosecutors described the girl as "his little toy" and outlined the catalogue of abuse she endured.

Following the sentencing, Harris' reputation is in ruins and he faces the prospect of spending the rest of his life behind bars.
