Sex Fiend Jailed for 11 Years for Raping Three Women

Ryan Kennedy, 29, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for raping three women over a seven-year period. The court heard that Kennedy used emotional manipulation and coercive control to dominate his victims, eroding their self-confidence before raping them.

One victim was forced to apologize for "ruining his fun" after she "screamed and cried" during the assault. Another woman was brutally raped as "punishment," with Kennedy threatening to hurt her further if she screamed. A third woman submitted to his unwanted sexual advances after he threatened to leave her if she did not have sex with him.

Judge Jamie Tabor QC, in his sentencing remarks, described coercive control as a situation where one person in a relationship takes control of the other over time, making the victim feel guilty if they do not comply. He characterized Kennedy as a highly narcissistic and selfish individual who targets vulnerable people.

Kennedy faced 14 charges, including 11 counts of rape, but was acquitted of three counts and eight were left to lie on file. He was found guilty of raping three women between 2008 and last year. The prosecution detailed how Kennedy attacked one woman after she refused his sexual advances, criticizing her for "ruining his fun" and making her apologize.

Another woman, who had recently had surgery, submitted to his advances out of fear of being abandoned. Kennedy also raped a third woman as punishment, threatening to hurt her if she made too much noise during the assault.

Kennedy's defense attorney argued that his client "misunderstood what was meant by consent." He also mentioned that Kennedy's sister and grandmother had died while he was in custody and that he was teaching other prisoners how to read.

Kennedy was sentenced to two terms of four years and one of three years, all to run consecutively.
