Sex offender jailed for crimes from 1980s and 90s.

53-year-old Jailed for Nine Years for Sexual Offenses Against Five Victims

Sean Richmond, of Hillyfields in Loughton, Essex, has been sentenced to nine years and six months in prison after pleading guilty to 14 sexual offenses against five victims. The offenses included attempted rape.

Richmond was first arrested in 2015 following reports of sexual assaults against two victims between 1985 and 1991. Subsequently, three more victims came forward to Essex Police, reporting sexual abuse by Richmond dating back over 30 years.

The trial commenced at Chelmsford Crown Court on May 28th. Richmond entered a guilty plea on the second day of the trial to 10 counts of indecent assault, three counts of indecency with a child, and one count of attempted rape.

After the sentencing, Det Con Matthew D Edson stated, "Richmond is no doubt a danger and he has spent decades thinking he could get away with abusing children." He was also subjected to an indefinite restraining order and placed on the Sex Offender Register for life.
