Man Sentenced for Non-Recent Sex Offences in Cowplain
A 46-year-old man, Simon Shaw, has been sentenced to two years and six months in prison after being found guilty of several non-recent sex offences in Cowplain.
Shaw, of St John Street in Wells, Somerset, was convicted on Friday, January 8th, of four counts of engaging in non-penetrative sexual activity with a child. The court heard that the abuse began in 2011 and continued until 2012.
The victim reported the offences to the police in 2017. Shaw denied all charges against him but was sentenced on Monday, March 8th.
Detective Sergeant Shaun Goddard from Hampshire Constabulary's Eastern Criminal Investigation Department stated, "Understandably this was a very traumatic ordeal for the victim, and I would like to commend her on her bravery and courage, which has helped secure this guilty verdict."
