Stephen Boyt, 70, Sentenced to 20 Years for Historical Abuse

Stephen Boyt was sentenced to 20 years in prison at Southampton Court for nine counts of indecent assault and one count of rape. The jury found him guilty of historical abuse that took place between 1984 and 1996 in Netley View, Calshot, and Fawley.

During the trial, footage of a police interview with Boyt's victim was played to the jury. In the interview, the victim, who was visibly emotional, described how Boyt would demand oral sex from her when she was a teenager. She also stated that Boyt had told her no one would believe her claims of abuse.

The court heard that the victim reported the abuse to police in August 2018 after experiencing a breakdown. Boyt, of Beech Crescent, Hythe, has a criminal history dating back to 1967, with convictions for burglary, blackmail, robbery, and ABH. However, he had no previous convictions for sexual offenses and strenuously denied the charges against him, claiming to be innocent.

Despite his denial, the jury found him guilty. Boyt will be released on license after serving his sentence.
