Stephen Powell Sentenced to 40 Months for Child Sex Offenses

Stephen Powell, 42, from Eskdale, Skelmersdale, has been sentenced to 40 months in prison for offenses related to assault and engaging in sexual communication with a child. Powell, who initially pleaded not guilty, changed his plea to guilty at Preston Crown Court on April 19.

The court heard that on September 10, 2022, Powell attempted to communicate with a minor named Izzy, knowing she was under 16. The communication was deemed to be sexually explicit and for Powell's own gratification.

In addition to the prison sentence, Powell was placed on the Sex Offender Registration for an indefinite period. He was also issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a Restraining Order for five years. Two Samsung phones and an iPhone were confiscated from him.

Powell was ordered to pay a £190 Statutory Surcharge.
