Man Jailed for 17 Years for Repeated Rape and Sexual Abuse of Vulnerable Teen

A 55-year-old man, Stephen Scholes, has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for repeatedly raping and sexually abusing a vulnerable teenage girl.

The horrific ordeal took place at an address in Leeds, where Scholes plied the victim with alcohol on a night out before subjecting her to repeated sexual abuse.

Despite denying the allegations when arrested and interviewed, an investigation by detectives from the Leeds District Safeguarding Unit secured forensic evidence linking him to the offenses.

Furthermore, the force's Digital Forensic Unit uncovered evidence on Scholes' phone confirming he had filmed the victim during the abuse.

Scholes was charged with four counts of rape of a woman aged 16 or over and four counts of assault by penetration. He pleaded not guilty but was convicted following a trial at Leeds Crown Court on Tuesday.

In addition to his prison sentence, Scholes was also placed on the Sex Offenders' Register.
