Sex offender who preyed on multiple women during 24-year reign of terror.

Sexual Predator Jailed for 24 Years of Offences Against Multiple Women

Steven Fergusson, 39, was sentenced to seven years in prison at the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday, January 23, for a series of serious sexual offences against nine different women in Renfrewshire between 1995 and 2019.

Fergusson was found guilty of multiple counts of sexual assault and other related charges. He was described as a "dangerous individual" by Detective Chief Inspector Mark McLennan.

"We welcome the conviction of Steven Fergusson," said DCI McLennan. "He is clearly a dangerous individual and it is due to the courage of the women involved in this case that he will now face the consequences of his abhorrent behaviour."

DCI McLennan also urged anyone who has been or is currently experiencing abuse or harm to contact the police.

"We treat all reports seriously and with the utmost professionalism and sensitivity," he said. "No matter when the offence took place. Time is no barrier to justice, as this case demonstrates."
