51-Year-Old Sex Offender Sent Back to Prison for Failing to Disclose Conviction
A 51-year-old registered sex offender, Steven Grosvenor, has been sent back to prison after failing to disclose his conviction to a new employer. As a registered sex offender, Grosvenor was obligated to adhere to strict conditions as part of his release.
In March of this year, Grosvenor applied for a job in Northampton and failed to inform the recruitment agency of his criminal history. Having been offered the position, he was provided with a work mobile phone that had internet capabilities. He subsequently failed to notify the police about this device, as required by his Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO).
Grosvenor was arrested and charged with one count of fraud by false representation and one count of breaching his SHPO. After pleading guilty to the charges at Northampton Crown Court on May 31st, he was sentenced to one year and four months in prison.
Detective Sergeant Tom Curlett-New of Northamptonshire Police's MOSOVO Team stated, "I am very satisfied with the outcome of this case and the fact that we were able to utilize the Fraud Act, resulting in a longer sentence than usual. This achievement is attributed to the efforts of PC Dani Wilton, and I express my gratitude for her diligence and determination."
"Our team is dedicated to supporting and encouraging individuals released from prison to find employment. However, we maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards breaches and will ensure that offenders are brought to justice," added Detective Sergeant Curlett-New.
