Sexual Predator Jailed for 'Disturbing Crimes' Against Schoolgirl

Stewart Thomson, a 40-year-old paedophile from the Oswestry area of Shropshire, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for sexually assaulting a young girl.

The abuse took place between April 2019 and February 2020. Thomson was found guilty of six counts of sexual activity with a child under 16 by a jury.

He also admitted to two counts of making indecent photographs of a child.

Detective Sergeant Alice Davies of West Mercia Police expressed satisfaction with the verdict and sentence, stating: "We are really pleased with the jury's verdict and the sentence that has been given to Thomson meaning that he will now face the consequences of his disturbing crimes on a vulnerable young girl."

Davies emphasized the seriousness of child abuse and the police's commitment to protecting children: "We take all forms of child abuse incredibly seriously and I hope this result shows the effort we put into making sure children in our community are safe from sexual predators. I hope it acts as reassurance to victims that we will do all we can to make sure offenders face justice."

Thomson, of Abbeygate Walk, Bangor-on-Dee, Wrexham, was sentenced at Shrewsbury Crown Court on Monday (March 13). He was placed on the sex offenders register and given a sexual harm prevention order.
