Sexually assaulted a schoolgirl and raped an adult women.

Teenage Sexual Predator Sentenced for Assaulting Schoolgirl and Raping Adult Female

Thomas Robert Birch, now 18, formerly of Gravesend, has been sentenced for sexual assault and rape. Birch appeared in court and admitted to raping an adult female but denied two counts of sexual assault against a schoolgirl. Despite his denial, he was found guilty on both charges.

The court heard that Birch, who was 16 at the time, visited the home of the victim's parents. When left alone, he went upstairs and sexually assaulted the 14-year-old victim in her bed. The victim was awake and demanded he stop, but Birch continued his assault. Afterward, he calmly went downstairs, said goodbye to the victim's family, and left as if nothing had happened.

The victim reported the assault to her parents, who contacted the police. However, the police did not act on the accusations until seven weeks later when an adult woman came forward to report that Birch had raped her. Birch initially denied the rape, but eventually admitted to it after realizing the attack was captured on a ring doorbell camera.

Despite the serious nature of the crimes, Birch was spared a prison sentence and instead given a community order. He has also been ordered to register as a sex offender.
