Child Sex Offender Jailed for Almost Seven Years

Thomas Brooks, 41, of Green Close, Luton, has been sentenced to almost seven years in prison for sexually abusing a child. Brooks pleaded guilty in court to three counts of sexual abuse.

The court heard that Brooks met his teenage victim several times and used drugs and alcohol to manipulate her before engaging in sexual activity. When the victim attempted to end their contact, Brooks continued to message her, trying to persuade her to meet again.

Detective Constable Stephen Francis, from Bedfordshire Police's protecting vulnerable people team, said: "Brooks is a cold manipulator who took advantage of a teenage girl for his own gain. He was calculating and deceptive, and even tried to blame the victim and threatened her with prison if she reported the abuse."

Despite Brooks' threats, the victim bravely disclosed the abuse to the police. Brooks was sentenced to six years and eight months in prison for each count, with the sentences running concurrently.

Detective Constable Francis added: "I would like to encourage all victims of sex offences to come forward, no matter when the offences happened. We will believe you and investigate your report, and we will work with our partner agencies to find the right support for you."
