Paedophile had heart attack when cops confronted him.
A paedophile suffered a heart attack when police arrived to arrest him for engaging in explicit online conversations with two 12 and 13-year-old girls.
Timothy Farrington, 55, from Cwmbran, was sentenced by a judge for his "vile, graphic and shocking" exchanges with the two "schoolgirls" who were actually undercover police officers.
Farrington fell victim to a sting operation by undercover officers posing as underage children named Jess and Carys. Prosecutor Jeffrey Jones revealed that Farrington, under the alias "James," had asked one of the decoys for nude pictures and inquired about her virginity.
He asked "Carys" from Cardiff if she was a virgin and if she wanted to "lose it." He also asked her if she was looking for "older guys" and suggested they meet at Cardiff railway station the following week. He then instructed her to delete their messages.
Farrington pleaded guilty to two counts of attempting to engage in sexual activity with a child and two counts of attempting sexual communication with a child. These offenses occurred between July 3, 2023, and August 15, 2023.
Defense attorney Harry Baker informed Judge Lucy Crowther that Farrington was in poor health, having suffered a heart attack during his arrest last summer. This was his third heart attack in recent years.
Farrington will now be required to communicate with his two children under 18 through social services. Mr. Baker requested leniency for Farrington due to his guilty pleas.
Judge Crowther condemned Farrington's actions, calling the communication "graphic, vile, and shocking." He was sentenced to 26 months in prison and will be required to register as a sex offender for the next 10 years.
