Cambridge Man Jailed for Rape and Sexual Assault
A Cambridge man, Timothy Morris (27), has been sentenced to 11 years and two months in prison for three counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.
The crimes occurred in 2018 and 2021. In January 2018, Morris attacked a student in his home, raping her despite her repeated refusals. In February 2021, he met a woman he had connected with on a dating site. During a walk in Ditton Meadows, he sexually assaulted her.
While the 2018 attack was initially investigated, a suspect wasn't identified. However, in 2021, Morris's DNA, obtained after his arrest for the assault in Ditton Meadows, matched evidence from the 2018 rape.
Morris denied all charges, but was found guilty at Peterborough Crown Court. He was also issued an indefinite restraining order against his victims and an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
DC Chemu Evans, commenting on the case, praised the victims for their resilience throughout the lengthy investigation. She described Morris as a "predator" who targeted vulnerable women, exhibiting a disturbing sense of entitlement. She highlighted the importance of forensic evidence and the valuable services provided by the Sexual Assault Referral Centre.
