Charity Worker Escapes Jail After Sex Chat Sting
Toni Stevens, a charity worker, has escaped jail after being caught by a vigilante paedophile hunting group. Stevens, 32, arranged to meet girls under the age of 14 for sex in hotels and asked at least 39 underage girls for "naughty pictures" and threesomes.
The group, Plymouth Against, set up decoy accounts and communicated with Stevens over messaging apps. They called police after he arranged to meet a decoy in Taunton. Stevens was arrested on November 27, 2017, and admitted to engaging in sexual communication with a child and attempting to cause a child to view sexual content.
At Exeter Crown Court, Stevens was handed a 12-month suspended sentence for two years, ordered to attend 20 days of rehabilitation, and placed on the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years. He was also issued a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years, preventing him from working with children.
In chat logs, Stevens discussed having a threesome with his ex-girlfriend and sent nude pictures of himself. Chris, a member of Plymouth Against, said Stevens had arranged to meet decoys in several locations across the country.
Hele's Angels, the charity where Stevens volunteered, stated he had no contact with children during his time there. Dani Skillin, a volunteer, said the charity is looking forward to moving on without Stevens.
