Sweaty pervert ogled teens while performing sex act from his balcony.

A 50-year-old man has been jailed for 10 months after he exposed himself to a group of teenagers while performing a sex act on himself.

Trevor Smith was seen by a horrified witness hanging out of his window, "fully naked" and "sweating profusely" as he performed the sex act on March 18, 2023.

The witness, who lived in an adjacent apartment block, saw Smith looking at a group of around nine teenagers who were walking along the street below. She described the incident as "disgusting" and said she felt "physically sick" after witnessing it.

Police arrived to find Smith "wearing a towel", "out of breath" and "sweating" after they were alerted to the incident by the horrified woman. A bag of cannabis was found in Smith's bedroom, and pornography was playing on his mobile phone.

Smith has a history of similar offences. In June 2012, he was handed a 12-month conditional discharge for outraging public decency. He was sentenced to a three-year community order in June 2016 for a similar offence, which he later breached by failing to comply and for drug and drink driving, for which he was locked up for three months.

In October 2019, Smith was handed a 26-week sentence suspended for two years after he was found "intoxicated in a lift at a train station thrusting his hips towards a cleaner's cone." He breached this suspended sentence by committing the offence on March 18, 2023, and was remanded into custody.

Mark Philips, Smith's defense attorney, argued that it was unlikely the teenagers saw Smith because he lived on one of the higher floors and the incident occurred late at night.

"He tells me he has looked at himself whilst in prison and realizes his whole offending has been related to drug abuse," Mr. Philips said, adding that Smith has started a drug awareness course and wants to "start his life" anew.

Judge Stuart Driver sentenced Smith to 10 months in prison, noting that the offenses were aggravated because "you were focused on the group of teenagers when you committed this offence" and because of his criminal record.

Smith must also sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years.
