Man Jailed for Arranging Sexual Exploitation of Teenager
Trevor Webb, 38, has been sentenced to 22 months in prison for his role in arranging the sexual exploitation of a teenager.
Norwich Crown Court heard that Webb met the victim online and then arranged for her to have sexual encounters with other men at hotels and other addresses in King's Lynn. The teenager, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, received money in exchange for the acts.
Prosecutor Nicola May described some of the encounters as "very concerning" because they went "beyond what had been agreed."
Webb, of Dobby Drive, King's Lynn, pleaded guilty to two counts of arranging to facilitate the sexual exploitation of a child between February and April 2018. He also admitted making an indecent image of a child between January and June 2018.
Stephen Spence, mitigating for Webb, argued that his client should receive credit for his guilty pleas and that he was a man of good character who had suffered a "significant and substantial" delay in the case.
Spence said, "He's had these proceedings hanging over him for some three years now," adding that Webb was now signed off work as a result of being unwell due to the stress of the case. "This is a man who has suffered, not insignificantly, by not knowing what his fate was."
Sentencing Webb, Judge Maureen Bacon said he had taken advantage of a troubled and vulnerable victim. While acknowledging the guilty pleas and delays in the case, she emphasized that a custodial sentence was necessary.
Webb was also subject to a restraining order, prohibiting him from contacting the victim directly or indirectly. He must also sign on the sex offenders' register for the next 10 years.
