Portsmouth Man Sentenced to 18 Years for Child Sexual Abuse

Vaclav Kopcil, 52, of All Saints Road, Portsmouth, was found guilty of multiple child sexual abuse charges following a seven-day trial at Portsmouth Crown Court.

The charges included assault of a child under 13 by penetration, sexual activity with a child, and two counts of rape of a female aged under 16 years.

The court heard that the offenses occurred in the Portsmouth area between September 2009 and April 2014. The victim was only 10 years old when the first offense took place.

Despite pleading not guilty, Kopcil was convicted on all counts by a jury. He was subsequently sentenced to 18 years in prison.
