Waseem Ullah Jailed for Six Years After Sexually Assaulting Girl in Car
Waseem Ullah jailed for six years for sexually assaulting a girl after grooming her online
Waseem Ullah, 28, has been sentenced to six years in prison with a four-year extension for the sexual assault of a young girl. Ullah groomed his victim online, sending sexually explicit messages and requesting explicit photographs before arranging to meet her in person.
The victim had initially told Ullah she was underage and did not want to meet, but he persisted, offering her money in exchange for their time together. After the victim's mother discovered the messages, Ullah was arrested in May 2022. Despite being bailed with restrictions, he went on to commit further crimes.
In June of this year, Ullah used a false name on social media to arrange a meeting with the girl who had gone missing. He drove her around Bolton before taking her towards the moors in Darwen where he sexually assaulted her in his car.
Specialist officers interviewed the victim, who bravely disclosed what happened and how she met Ullah. They identified that the phone number provided by the victim belonged to Ullah. He was subsequently arrested after being spotted driving in Bolton on June 9th emptying and cleaning his car.
Ullah initially denied his crimes but eventually pleaded guilty to causing a female aged 13 or over to engage in non-penetrative sexual activity, two counts of sexual assault, engaging in sexual communication with a child, and breach of court bail conditions.
PC Becky Greenwood, from the Bolton Complex Safeguarding Team, said: “Waseem Ullah showed no remorse for his behaviour and denied his criminality until he was faced with indisputable evidence. He was persistent in his attempts to exploit the survivors in this case, and I am pleased that we were able to secure the evidence to send him to prison for a long time."
She added: “I would like to thank the girls who spoke to us and bravely disclosed Ullah’s depraved behaviour. We know that this sentence goes no way to make up for what Ullah subjected them to, but we hope they can draw some comfort from the fact he is now behind bars."
