Sexually assaulting a girl under 13 twice and trying to incite a teenage boy into sexual activity.

Paedophile Jailed for Sexually Assaulting Girl and Inciting Teen Boy

Wayne Daykin, 26, of Queens Road, Southend, was sentenced to three years in prison at Basildon Crown Court on Friday for a series of sexual offenses against a girl under 13 and a teenage boy.

Daykin pleaded guilty to five charges related to incidents that occurred in south Essex in April 2019. He admitted to sexually assaulting the girl on two separate occasions, forcibly undressing and exposing her. The girl was left shaken and quickly re-dressed herself after both incidents.

In addition to the sexual assault, Daykin also attempted to incite the teenage boy into sexual activity. He would take the boy aside and try to get him to expose himself, making repeated demands and requests for sexual contact, even through messages on Instagram.

The boy felt scared by Daykin's actions and eventually confided in his family and the police. Daykin's persistent attempts to engage the boy in sexual activity left him feeling vulnerable and distressed.

During sentencing, Judge Andrew Hurst stated that Daykin had "preyed upon these children sexually" and that his actions were "for his gratification". He emphasized the young and impressionable ages of the victims.

Daykin's defense lawyer, Mike Warren, argued that Daykin was remorseful for his actions. However, the judge remained unconvinced, imposing a three-year prison sentence and an indefinite requirement for Daykin to register as a sex offender.
