Wrexham Man Sentenced to Six Years for Child Sex Offenses

A 70-year-old man from Wrexham has been sentenced to six years in prison after admitting to a series of child sex offenses.

William Carter, of Ffordd Estyn in Wrexham, appeared at Mold Crown Court on Wednesday for sentencing. He had previously pleaded guilty to eight counts of sexually touching a child.

During the sentencing, defense attorney Henry Hills stated that Carter "understands his behavior has caused significant harm to the victim."

Judge Rhys Rowlands condemned Carter's actions, stating that he had "behaved repeatedly in an appalling and totally perverted way." The judge added that Carter displayed "little insight into the harm he had caused." The abuse, according to the judge, had a "profound effect" on the victim.

In addition to the prison sentence, a sexual harm prevention order was issued, and Carter must register as a sex offender.
