Halesowen Man Jailed for 14 Years for Sex Attacks on Schoolgirl

A 38-year-old Halesowen man, William Lee, has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for a series of sexual assaults on a schoolgirl. The attacks, which took place in September 2015, left the victim deeply traumatized.

Judge Nicholas Webb, presiding over the case at Wolverhampton Crown Court, described the damage inflicted on the young girl as immeasurable. He emphasized that reports indicated Lee posed a significant risk to children.

"You imposed your will on this girl and you selfishly exploited her for your own gratification," Judge Webb told Lee during sentencing.

Lee, of Crimmond Road, was found guilty by a jury on five charges of rape. He was also convicted on two charges of sexual assault, sexual activity with a child, causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and sexual activity in the presence of a child.

In addition to the prison sentence, Lee was ordered to register as a Sex Offender for life and banned from ever working with children.

While Lee maintained his innocence, Judge Webb stated: "I think you can be managed by a long determinate sentence and the ancillary orders."

Samantha Powis, Lee's defense attorney, presented 23 character references to the court, highlighting his previous good standing. Judge Webb acknowledged the existence of another side to Lee's character, but emphasized the gravity of his crimes.
