Convicted Sex Offender Jailed for Exposing Himself in Islington
A convicted sex offender, William Sung, has been sentenced to four months in prison for performing a sex act on himself in public on two separate occasions in Islington.
The 45-year-old was seen on Gildart Street in August pulling down his trousers and exposing himself while standing at the window of a takeaway. This incident occurred while Sung was already registered as a sex offender.
Sung, who resides in the Baltic Triangle area, appeared at Liverpool Magistrates' Court after pleading guilty to two counts of exposure. The court heard that the incident was prolonged and Sung was intoxicated at the time.
During the sentencing, Chair Magistrate Glenys McGill stated that the seriousness of the offense surpassed the threshold for a suspended sentence. She highlighted the aggravating factors, including the length of the incident, Sung's intoxication, and his status as a registered sex offender.
Sung has a history of criminal offenses, including convictions for harassment, exposure, and a previous nine-month prison sentence for sexual assault in 2013.
In addition to his prison sentence, Sung must register as a sex offender for seven years and pay £100 in compensation to his victim.
