Serial Rapist Sentenced to Life After Attacking 17-Year-Old Girl

A serial rapist, William Trotter, 39, was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 12 years before parole for the brutal attack of a 17-year-old girl. The attack occurred just months after Trotter was released from a life sentence for a similar attack 14 years prior, convincing a parole board he was no longer a threat.

The incident took place on March 19th when Trotter and the victim got off the same bus in Bromley, South London. Trotter, wearing a pink face covering, engaged the girl in conversation before pretending to head in the opposite direction. He then turned and ran after her, attacking her with a blunt object, strangling her until unconsciousness, and dragging her into nearby undergrowth where he raped her.

Residents, alerted by the girl's screams, called the police, who arrived to find the victim staggering out of the bushes. Trotter was spotted and chased through nearby woods but escaped over a wall into an allotment. He was later apprehended after a nationwide manhunt.

Trotter's latest attack bore striking similarities to the one he committed 14 years ago. He admitted to four charges of rape but claimed to have no memory of the attack. The victim, in a statement read in court, described the attack as a "nightmare," detailing the terror and trauma she experienced.

Judge Elizabeth Lowe, in her sentencing, highlighted Trotter's lack of remorse and the significant risks he poses to the public. "You are an extremely violent serial sexual predator," she declared, sentencing him to life imprisonment. "A life sentence is clearly well justified in this case."
