Sex Offender Escapes Jail Despite Possession of Horrific Child Abuse Images

Zacharia Al-Kindy, 28, has avoided imprisonment after being found in possession of disturbing images and videos depicting the abuse of children as young as two, including scenes of bestiality.

Al-Kindy's collection, which included a 33-minute-long video, was discovered in the 'Downloads' folder of his laptop, kept in his bedroom at the home he shares with his mother.

The court heard that Al-Kindy, of Darvel, East Ayrshire, had earlier pleaded guilty to charges of possessing indecent images of children and "extreme pornographic" images. The images were accessed between August 12, 2020, and January 16, 2021.

Al-Kindy's lawyer attributed his actions to the deaths of his father and sibling, which he claimed led to a period of isolation and a descent into the dark world of child abuse imagery.

Sheriff George Jamieson, while sentencing Al-Kindy, expressed strong disapproval of his actions, highlighting the devastating impact of child abuse. He placed Al-Kindy on the Sex Offenders' Register and imposed a Community Payback Order for three years.

The order includes participation in the Moving Forward, Making Changes Programme, designed to help sex offenders modify their behavior. Al-Kindy is prohibited from unsupervised contact with anyone under 16 and restricted to owning a single mobile phone and laptop, which must be made available for inspection by social workers and police.
