Married Man Zia Khan Sexually Assaults Three Victims at Hotel Spa

A married man who sexually assaulted three victims at a hotel spa has been handed a suspended sentence.

Zia Khan, 48, targeted a teenager and two women while they were in the jacuzzi and pool area of the Village Hotel in Attenborough, Nottinghamshire. The 'arrogant' father-of-two inappropriately touched his victims while they used spa facilities between April and May 2023.

Prosecutor Anthony Cheung told Nottingham Crown Court that Khan sat next to a teenage girl in the jacuzzi before touching her inappropriately. He then walked away when she looked at a friend for help. In another incident, Khan touched a woman as he walked past her while she was getting into the water.

A third victim reported feeling a foot touch hers while she was in the jacuzzi with Khan. She moved away but the touching continued.

Khan was arrested two days later after his victims reported the perpetrator was wearing yellow swimming shorts, which were seized from his home.

Defending Khan, Laura Hocknell said he was remorseful and had shown victim empathy. She highlighted his work history and fatherhood.

Judge Michael Auty KC said Khan appeared arrogant during the trial when he denied the allegations. However, he acknowledged that Khan's conviction and public exposure had caused him humiliation.

"No man worthy of the name ever sexually assaults a woman," Judge Auty stated. "It is despicable behaviour which was degrading and humiliating for them."

Khan received a 12-month sentence suspended for two years, 35 days of rehabilitation activity, 200 hours of unpaid work, and must pay £1750 in compensation to his victims. He was also issued with a 10-year restraining order banning him from the Village Hotel complex and placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
