Convicted Sex Offender Jailed for Refusing to Hand Over Phone with Celebrity Contacts
A convicted sex offender was jailed after he refused to hand over his phone to police, claiming it contained contact details for celebrities.
Northamptonshire Police conducted a surprise raid at Aaron Bell's residence in Rockingham Road, Kettering, on April 3rd. During the raid, officers discovered that Bell was repeatedly dishonest.
The 35-year-old was found guilty of violating his sexual harm prevention order at Northampton Crown Court last month and was sentenced to a year and four months in prison.
"As part of Bell's sexual harm prevention order, he was obligated to inform us about everyone he intended to associate with and provide us with their information, enabling appropriate safeguarding checks," stated PC Mark Edkins.
"However, after claiming to be acquainted with several celebrities, he consistently evaded providing any details and repeatedly lied to officers."
Police authorities also revealed that they found a hidden unregistered mobile phone in Bell's possession.
