Attempting to engage in a sexual act with a minor.

Man Jailed for 27 Months for Exposing Himself to Child

Alan James McLoughlin, 37, was sentenced to 27 months in prison at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday after being found guilty of attempted sexual activity with a child under the age of 13.

McLoughlin, of Tedbury Close, Kirkby, must also register as a sex offender for 10 years.

The victim, a young girl attending infant school, was exposed to McLoughlin at a New Year's Eve party in 2016. McLoughlin then asked the girl to kiss him.

"It's only when she told her brother what had happened the morning after, that we realised what had happened," said the victim's mother. "It's been a horrendous and horrific time for us as a family."

The jury found McLoughlin unanimously guilty, providing closure for the family. "I feel so relieved and I know that my baby is now safe," said the victim's mother. "It's been going on for two years and has just been hell for our family. My daughter would sometimes see him in the street and get panicked and upset. I'm just happy he's been found guilty and now can't harm anymore children."
