Paedophile who kept more than 10,000 images of child sex abuse.
Paedophile Walks Free After Pleading Guilty to Possessing Thousands of Child Abuse Images
Andrew Lomax, a former carer, has been spared a jail sentence despite possessing over 10,000 images and videos depicting child sexual abuse. The collection, found across multiple devices, included 1,600 videos of child rape, with the youngest victim being an 18-month-old baby girl.
The 45-year-old, who admitted to having a sexual interest in children, amassed a disturbing collection of 3,188 videos and 8,052 indecent images, totaling 11,240 pieces of child abuse content.
Police were alerted to Lomax's activities after receiving intelligence regarding internet usage at his residence in Woodchurch. During a search of his home, Lomax confessed to possessing indecent images and detailed the nature of his collection, stating it contained images of children ranging in age from toddlers to teenagers.
The court heard that the earliest images in Lomax's collection were created in September 2019, while the most recent were created in June 2022. The images were stored across multiple devices, including a computer tower, an Acer laptop, an HP laptop, and an external hard drive.
Despite the gravity of his offenses, Lomax was spared a prison sentence. The defense argued that he had expressed remorse, acknowledged his wrongdoing, and was actively seeking rehabilitation through the Lucy Faithfull Foundation.
However, the judge, Brian Cummings, QC, condemned Lomax's actions, stating that the creation of such images involved the "most appalling and damaging abuse" of real children, including babies.
Lomax pleaded guilty to possession of extreme pornographic images, possession of indecent photographs, three counts of making indecent images, and one count of possessing a prohibited image of a child.
