Carried vulnerable teen into house and raped her as she slept.
Annuar Ameir, 30, from Toxteth, was sentenced to nine years and nine months in prison for raping a 17-year-old girl in 2018.
The victim, who had been drinking with friends, met Ameir and his group earlier that day. After moving to a different location to continue partying, the victim became intoxicated and fell asleep on a sofa. Ameir, who was also drunk, carried her into the living room, took off her clothes, and raped her.
The victim awoke during the attack but was unable to stop Ameir. She later spoke of the lasting impact of the assault, including struggles with depression and alcohol abuse.
Ameir denied the rape, but a jury at Liverpool Crown Court found him guilty. During sentencing, Judge Gary Woodhall described Ameir's actions as "predatory" and said he had "exploited his victim's vulnerabilities for his own satisfaction."
The judge also noted that Ameir had "misogynistic and flawed views around sex," adding that "you present as someone with a sense of male entitlement, with a misogynistic view of female characters."
While Ameir's actions met the criteria for a dangerous offender designation, the judge determined that an extended sentence was not justified.
