Man Jailed for Sexual Abuse After Victim's Family Records Confession

Anthony Moore, 58, has been sentenced to 10 years and eight months in prison for sexually abusing a boy between 1994 and 1998. The abuse came to light in 2022 when the victim, now an adult, reported the crimes to police.

During the investigation, Moore initially denied the allegations. However, he remained silent when confronted with an audio recording made by the victim's family, in which he admitted to the abuse.

Moore pleaded guilty to seven counts of indecent assault and five counts of gross indecency with a boy under 16. He was sentenced at Leicester Crown Court on Thursday, March 14th.

In addition to his prison sentence, Moore was issued a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order and a lifetime restraining order prohibiting contact with the victim.

Detective Constable Aisling McPhillips, the officer in charge of the case, praised the victim's courage for coming forward and stated, "Moore thought his crimes would never come to light, but his victim has shown great courage in reporting what happened." She added, "I hope this case serves as an example to other victims that it's never too late to report sexual abuse and that we will work to bring those responsible to justice."
