Bex McCullgh Sentenced to Eight Years for Attempted Child Sex Offences
A sex offender from North Somerset has been sentenced to eight years for attempting to meet a young boy for sexual purposes.
Bex McCullgh, 25, from Backwell, was arrested in October 2024 after traveling to Bristol to meet who she believed to be a young boy. In reality, she was apprehended by officers from the South West Regional Organised Crime Unit (SWROCU).
McCullgh pleaded guilty at Bristol Crown Court on Monday, February 10, 2025, to arranging or facilitating the commission of a child sex offence, attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, and attempting to cause or incite a child to engage in sexual activity.
The judge imposed an extended sentence of eight years, consisting of four years in custody followed by four years on extended licence. McCullgh will serve at least two-thirds of her sentence before becoming eligible for release.
In addition to imprisonment, McCullgh was made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) and placed on the Sex Offender Register indefinitely.
