Caught with indecent images of children.

Paedophile Sentenced to Suspended Prison Term

Callum Latimer, 23, appeared in Liverpool Crown Court yesterday and was sentenced for possessing an extensive collection of child sex abuse images and videos. He pleaded guilty to three charges: making indecent images of children, possessing indecent images of children, and possessing prohibited images.

Police discovered 165 indecent images and videos, including 58 of the most serious category A, on Latimer's phone following a tip-off on November 30, 2022. He also had 1,578 prohibited images of children. Chat logs revealed Latimer had requested indecent images of underage girls depicted in Japanese manga style.

Prosecutor Christopher Hopkins stated that the images found depicted young girls aged between three and 10 years old. The court heard that Latimer had "a number of significant neurodiverse conditions" and was of previously good character.

Judge Andrew Menary acknowledged the severity of the offenses, stating that Latimer's actions encouraged the "evil trade" of child sex abuse. However, he opted for a suspended prison sentence, believing community support would be more beneficial for Latimer.

Latimer was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 18 months. He was also ordered to participate in the Horizon program for sex offenders, complete 150 hours of unpaid work, and register as a sex offender for five years.
