Child Sex Offender Jailed for Breaching Notification Requirements

Calum Teeson, 26, has been jailed for six weeks after breaching a notification requirement related to his conviction for possessing indecent images of children. Teeson, who lives in North Wales, had been ordered to inform authorities if he stayed away from home for an extended period. However, he failed to report that he was staying in Liverpool between August 3 and November 9, despite visiting the city 30 to 40 times during that time, as confirmed by Mersey Tunnel staff.

Prosecutor Dafydd Roberts stated that Teeson had previously received an eight-month suspended sentence for making indecent images of children. The court heard that Teeson had been texting by police officers reminding him of his obligations, but he chose to disregard them.

Teeson, who appeared in Mold Crown Court via videolink from HMP Berwyn, admitted to making a "stupid mistake" and expressed remorse for his actions. He claimed he had been staying with a friend who was unaware of his conviction and that he feared losing the friendship. He also informed the court that he had a job waiting for him upon release.

Judge Niclas Parry, in sentencing Teeson, described the breach as "deliberate and arrogant" and emphasized the importance of complying with notification requirements. He warned Teeson that he must adhere to the terms of his original suspended sentence, including unpaid work and continued notification compliance, or he would face further imprisonment.

Teeson was released on the same day due to time served.
