Man Pleads Guilty to Sexually Assaulting Teenage Schoolgirl

Carl Briggs, 20, appeared at Teesside Magistrates' Court on Monday and pleaded guilty to three counts of sexual assault on a female.

Briggs, of Essex Street, Middlesbrough, confirmed his identity and entered his guilty pleas during a short hearing.

The court heard that the three incidents took place between June and December 2018. The charges state that Briggs "intentionally touched a girl aged 14 and that touching was sexual when she did not consent and he did not reasonably believe that she was consenting."

No further details of the case were outlined during the hearing.

District Judge Helen Cousins granted Briggs unconditional bail and ordered a pre-sentence report to be prepared for a hearing on April 27. The case is listed for mention on April 14.
