Christopher Barrett, 65, has been sentenced to prison after admitting to two further exposure charges. He was previously given numerous warnings by the court that he would face imprisonment if he continued his behavior.
Barrett was sentenced at Chester Magistrates' Court on Thursday, January 12. He pleaded guilty to two counts of exposure, breaching his sex offender notification and registration requirements, and breaching a suspended sentence.
Prosecutor Tanya Berridge-Burley explained that Barrett exposed himself on two consecutive days in Warrington on September 20 and 21 last year. He intentionally exposed his genitals with the intent of causing alarm or distress.
Barrett was previously given a 20-week prison sentence suspended for 24 months in December 2020 for an offense of exposure. He breached this sentence with his latest offenses.
In 2020, Barrett exposed himself to a dog walker while standing in his bedroom window. The victim described feeling "shocked, disgusted, and frankly devastated" by the incident.
Barrett also has a previous conviction from March 2018, where he was found to have videoed passersby while performing sex acts in the same window and waving to women outside.
Magistrates highlighted Barrett's "appalling" record of similar offenses and sentenced him to 72 weeks in prison. He is also subject to sex offender notification requirements for 10 years and a sexual harm prevention order for the same length of time.
The sexual harm prevention order prohibits Barrett from exposing his genitals and underwear in sight of the public or masturbating in sight of anyone without their consent.
In addition to the prison sentence, Barrett was ordered to pay £120 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service and a £187 surcharge to fund victim services.
