Christopher De Burton, a 67-year-old man from Torquay, Devon, was sentenced to 19 years in prison followed by an extended license of three years. He was found guilty by a jury on numerous sexual offenses committed against a young girl.

De Burton's convictions include indecency with a child, three counts of rape of a child under 13, eight sexual assaults of a child under 13, and two counts of causing a child to watch a sexual act. These crimes took place over several years starting when the victim was very young.

This is not De Burton's first conviction for sexual offenses. He has a prior history of convictions against two other victims.

During the trial, the court heard harrowing details of the abuse, which occurred at various locations across Devon. De Burton also showed pornography to the victim and her friend.

De Burton denied all allegations against him, claiming they were fabricated. However, the jury rejected his account and found him guilty on all counts.

Detective Sergeant John Friskey commended the victims for their bravery and courage in coming forward. He emphasized that the police will thoroughly investigate all reported sexual offenses, regardless of when they occurred.
