Former Police Scotland Officer Jailed for Abuse of Three Partners
Christopher Ferguson, 31, a former Police Scotland officer, has been sentenced to three years and nine months in prison for subjecting three former partners to violent attacks, sexual abuse and controlling behavior over a 14-year period in the Lanarkshire area.
Ferguson's abuse included repeated assaults, controlling their attire, monitoring their communications, and stalking them through phone calls, texts, unwanted gifts, social media surveillance, and physical presence outside their homes and relatives' residences.
He was found guilty of nine charges, including two counts of voyeurism. His crimes spanned the time he was stationed at Glasgow's Helen Street police station, highlighting the abuse of power and trust within the force.
Ferguson's actions included sending intimate photos without consent, engaging in verbal abuse, making threats of self-harm, and choking one of the victims, causing her injury on multiple occasions.
He also stalked one of the women by monitoring her movements, appearing at her home, and contacting her about an ongoing police investigation against him.
A third victim was subjected to repeated assaults, including being pushed down a flight of stairs.
Les Brown, procurator fiscal for South Strathclyde, described Ferguson as a "habitual domestic abuser" who inflicted "unimaginable trauma" on his victims.
Brown commended the victims' courage in speaking out against a figure of authority and their determination to seek justice.
He emphasized the Crown's commitment to prosecuting domestic and sexual crimes effectively and fairly, regardless of the offender's background.
The Crown urged anyone who has been a victim of similar offenses to come forward, assuring them that they will be listened to and supported in pursuing justice.
