20-Year-Old Man Sentenced for Sexual Assaults on Vulnerable Girls

A 20-year-old man, Christopher McCain from Skipton Road, Huyton, has been sentenced to over four years in prison for a series of sexual assaults against vulnerable young girls in St Helens town centre during the summer of 2015.

McCain pleaded guilty to the assaults and was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison by a judge at Liverpool Crown Court. He was also given a six-year Sexual Offences Prevention Order and will remain on the Sex Offenders' Register for life.

Detective Sergeant Jim Starkey, of St Helens CID, stated that the sentence sends a clear message that sexual activity with children will be dealt with seriously. He described McCain as a predatory offender who repeatedly took advantage of vulnerable young girls, causing severe psychological impact on his victims.

Detective Sergeant Starkey commended the victims for their bravery in giving evidence and praised the support they received from the police and partners. He urged other victims of sexual offenses, regardless of when they occurred, to come forward and not suffer in silence.

Merseyside Police emphasized their commitment to protecting children and preventing abuse. They encourage parents, teachers, and other adults to educate themselves about online safety and child sexual exploitation.

The police highlighted their website, www.listentomystory.co.uk, which offers information from young people's perspectives and provides resources for those concerned about child exploitation.

Anyone who has experienced or witnessed sexual offenses is encouraged to contact Merseyside Police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
