Sex offender who abused a child snared after uploading indecent pictures of children online.
Sandhurst Man Jailed for Child Sexual Abuse
Christopher Seston, 49, of Sandhurst, has been sentenced to four years in prison after pleading guilty to two counts of sexual activity with a child and four counts of taking indecent images of a child.
Police in Wiltshire became aware of Seston's offenses last year when email addresses linked to him were found to have uploaded indecent images of children. Further investigation revealed that Seston had not only shared these images online but had also engaged in sexual abuse of a minor.
Seston was arrested in February 2023 and his devices were seized. The evidence obtained during the investigation confirmed the extent of his crimes. He was subsequently charged and pleaded guilty to all charges.
Seston was sentenced at Salisbury Crown Court and has been made subject to an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order. This order is designed to protect children and prevent Seston from engaging in similar offenses in the future.
Detective Constable Jason Walsh, from Wiltshire Police's Child Internet Exploitation Team, stated: "This was a disturbing case where our initial inquiries into the uploading of indecent images of children led to us uncovering the fact that Seston had also been sexually abusing a child. I would like to pay tribute to the young victim in this case who has had the courage to bravely speak out about what happened to her and whose evidence has led to Seston being convicted and sentenced for his offending."
Wiltshire Police encourages anyone who has been the victim of sexual offenses to come forward and report it. "You will be believed, and we can ensure the relevant support is put in place, particularly when children or young people are involved," stated Detective Constable Walsh.
