Nairn Sex Offender Targeted Underage Girl and Women
A Nairn sex offender targeted an underage girl and five young women over a four-year period, sending them indecent images and exposing himself to some. Codey Masson, 28, appeared at Inverness Sheriff Court where he admitted six charges.
Masson’s offences took place between August 2015 and August 2019. Fiscal depute Pauline Gair told the court that most of the incidents began innocently on social media but quickly became sexually charged.
One victim, around 13 or 14 years old at the time, met Masson at his home. He later exposed himself to her in a Co-op car park and in local woods. On another occasion, he touched her intimately while she was grieving a friend’s death.
Masson also sent unsolicited nude photos to five other young women, repeatedly asking for explicit images and engaging in sexually suggestive conversations. He would often send photos of his own genitals and proposition them for sex. The women all rejected his advances and did not consent to the images being sent.
Defence counsel Bill Adam told Sheriff Eilidh Macdonald that Masson had not offended since 2019 and was remorseful for his actions. He added that Masson had participated in a social work programme and wanted to move forward.
Sheriff Macdonald deferred sentence until March 12 for a background report and an assessment for Masson to be placed on a sex offenders' rehabilitation programme. He was immediately placed on the sex offender register.
