Man Jailed for Sexual Assault in Suffolk
Constantin Tulba, 34, of Edgecomb Road, Stowmarket, has been sentenced to 30 months in prison for a sexual assault that occurred in the early hours of June 4th, 2023.
The incident took place around 1:15 am on Ipswich Road, Stowmarket. The victim, a woman in her early 20s, was walking away from the town center towards Combs Ford when Tulba approached her from behind. He grabbed her and sexually assaulted her, but the woman resisted and managed to escape to a passing car.
The driver of the car, who witnessed the assault, drove the victim to a nearby police patrol vehicle. Tulba was arrested the following day and subsequently charged.
Tulba pleaded guilty to sexual assault on July 5th and was sentenced at Ipswich Crown Court on August 21st.
Police investigations at Tulba's residence revealed clothing matching the description of the assailant, and forensic evidence linked him to the crime.
Detective Sergeant Naomi Harger commended the victim's courage and strength in coming forward and praised the sentence handed down to Tulba. She acknowledged that the ordeal would have been incredibly distressing for the victim and emphasized that while the sentence could offer some reassurance to the community, it could never truly compensate for the trauma endured.
Harger also expressed gratitude to the witnesses who provided CCTV footage and dashcam recordings, which proved invaluable in securing the conviction.
The police encourage anyone who has been the victim of a sexual offense to come forward and report it. All complaints are taken seriously, and the force works with partner agencies to provide victims with support while conducting thorough investigations.
