51-Year-Old Man Sentenced to Eight Years for Sexual Abuse of Young Girls

Craig Spencer, of Owston Ferry, has been sentenced to eight years in prison for six counts of historic sexual activity with a girl. The offenses took place between 2005 and 2006 while Spencer owned a tattoo parlour on Robert Street, Scunthorpe.

Spencer will serve a minimum of four years in prison and has been placed on the sexual offenders register for life. He was deemed a "predatory offender" by authorities who stated he took advantage of his position to abuse young girls.

Detective Constable Lindsey Blake of Humberside Police stated, "This was an appalling abuse of his position and responsibilities. Spencer is clearly a predatory offender who would take advantage of young girls."

Blake went on to commend the victim for her bravery in coming forward and providing the evidence necessary to secure the prosecution. "I would like to praise her for her bravery and fortitude in coming forward and I would always encourage any victim of an historical sexual crime to come forward, we will listen, and we will do everything in our power to bring offenders to justice," said Blake.
