Perverted Prisoner Jailed for Repeated Indecent Exposure

Craig Steadman, 30, has been sentenced to two years and four months in prison for repeatedly exposing himself on nine separate occasions, including at least six times within HMP Channings Wood in Devon.

Steadman, from Languard Road, Southampton, pleaded guilty to nine counts of indecently exposing his genitals with the intention of causing fear or distress. The offenses occurred between September 3, 2022, and June 28, 2023.

The first two offenses took place in Winchester, Hampshire. The following six occurred within the prison walls. The final count also took place in Newton Abbot, though the exact location was not specified in the charges.

Judge William Mousley QC handed down sentences ranging from two months to eight months for each offense, all of which were to be served consecutively. The sentences progressively increased as the offending continued, totaling 28 months.

In addition to the prison sentence, Steadman was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £181. He will also be required to register as a sex offender for ten years.
